Norwell is a secluded and small community five minutes from Jacobs Well and about 42 kilometres from Surfers Paradise, at the northern end of the Gold Coast. Home to the Holden Performance Driving Centre, Gold Coast Sports Flying Club and Gainsborough Greens golf course, Norwell features acres and acres of sugar cane fields that are situated on a floodplain.

This picturesque farming community stretches along the northern banks of the Pimpama River, with its north-east boundary being Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road. This area takes its name from the sugar "Norwell Plantation" which was operated by William Pidd in the 1870s.
